Four established San Francisco art galleries have moved a block away from us on Utah Street. We’re calling it the new ‘Arts District’. Saturday, September 7th there will be inaugural group openings for the new spaces from 4pm-7pm, and we are welcoming them with a simultaneous art opening and cocktail reception at 111 Potrero.

Russian Pavilion to Arttitud San Francisco.

We are happy to welcome Russian Pavilion to Arttitud San Francisco for Fine Art Week, May 17-19, 2013. Art opening reception is Friday, May 17, from 6 to 9pm, with drinks and entertainment provided. Many of the participating artists will be traveling to San Francisco for this event.

The Russian Pavilion is a juried art exhibition showcasing emerging and established artists from Russia, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Baltic regions during leading international contemporary art fairs in New York, San Francisco and Miami. Russian Pavilion had its incredibly successful debut during Armory Arts Week in New York City, March 2013.

Participating artists include: Blue Noses Group, Valery Yershov, Valentin Popov, Artem Mirolevich, Igor Vishnyakov, Rustam Khamdamov, Igor Molochevsky, Taguhi Barsegian, Leonid Gurevich, Victoria Kovalenchikova, Dasha Fursey Ilya Shevel, Sasha Meret, Olga Chemokhud-Doty, Alex Khomski, Sergey Konstantinov, Igor Zaytsev, Yuliya Lanina, Inna Antonova, Irene Koval & others.

Cultural Partners for the tour include: Museum of Russian Art (New Jersey), Kolodzei Art Foundation, Kavachnina Contemporary, Russian American Cultural Center, Northern Cross, Electra Inc., Universal Software Inc., Gambourg and Borsen.

Artist Sergey Konstantinov- who will be showing new original works with art installed in the Russian Pavilion San Francisco at Arttitud on May 17th- has been getting a lot of attention for an Atherton dining room mural done in collaboration with interior designer Suzanne Tucker. Konstantinov is also known for his commission work for the Gettys.

Кто видел – поймет, кто не видел – поверьте. Сан-Франциско – западная столица США. Самый красивый город в мире. Создан этот пласт культуры многонациональной армией иммигрантов со всего мира. Об одном из них сегодня разговор. Загляним в вечно открытое окно, выходящее на калифорнийский залив, тут живет один из представителей современного имиджа калифорнийского искусства. Художник Сергей Константинов провел детские годы в маленьком городке Жмеринка. Эти годы запомнились весело-радужной палитрой существования и памятниками истории, которая была и есть на каждом шагу. Редкие поездки в столицу были светлыми и желанными.  Лавра, София, музеи и особенно запомнилась выставка Фаюмских портретов, которые вышли из рук реставраторов и были выставлены на обозрение. Все это создали люди! Чудеса! Я хочу творить чудеса. – говорит ребенок папе.

Через много лет  на берегу Тихого Океана Сергей вспомнит весь путь от восторженного хлопчика до известного, уважаемого деятеля искусства мирового класса.

Папа услышал ребенка, мальчик поступает и успешно заканчивает Вижницкое прикладное училище, отделение худож. обработки дерева. Этой базы знаний достаточно, чтобы поступить во Львовскую Академию искусств, где изучает керамическое дело. В те далекие времена Львов был крупным культурным центром. Особенно процветали деполитизированные прикладные виды искусств, такие как кузнечное, худ.  стекло, керамика, резьба. В институтские годы на Сергея оказывает влияние выдающийся львовявин Борис Возницкий, он создал музей искусств, восстановил Олесский замок. Потрясающая работоспособность и виденье цели великого человека вызывает искреннее уважение. Молодой человек понимает, что наследие нужно не только любить, но и беречь. Этот путь Сергей выберет как основополагающий, но это будет потом.

А сейчас распределение в жаркий по-своему обворожительный, но незнакомый Азербайжан. Художественный фонд редко встречает новичков с распростертыми объятиями, но все как-то улаживается, и семья увеличивается.

Рутинные заказы, никакие выставки удручают молодых эксцентричных художников. Решение не простое – семья переезжает в Сан-Франциско. Страшно. Все новое, другое и конечно язык. Но тот неописуемый восторг, с которым Сергей работает в это время становится в последствие визитной карточкой. Работа реставратора становится основой его существования За 20 лет восстановленно потрясающее количество произведений искусства. Студия Сергея Константинова становится одной из ведущих в Северной Калифорнии.

Сергей ни на минуту не оставляет живопись за многие годы. Стиль, объект его искусства меняется от предметного до беспредметных цветовых композиций щенячьего восторга. Не буду докучать перечнем галерей и музеев, в которых находятся работы художника. Просто хочу его представить. Взгляд в будущее – Сергей Константинов. Попробуйте полюбить.
